Let's talk about what is coming up for The Book Shelf when we greet a new, cozy month (and one that just happens to be my favorite!)
To highlight the spotlights that readers, as well as The Book Shelf followers and visitors, can expect, I'm going to keep this week's blog post additionally organized/ focused and condensed, so eyes can easily take away what they need to.
Without further ado, let's jump into What you need to know in November:
So long, Limited Edition: Halloween! These book bundles were outrageously fun to put together, and I am so proud of the variety of storytelling these tales embodied.
As they say, every goodbye makes way for a new hello; so November will begin with Limited Edition: Young Readers Thanksgiving! I thoroughly enjoyed putting together the Halloween book recommendations blog post a few weeks ago and am truly passionate about reading at every age. But even deeper than that, I am fiercely driven to also put lesser-known-titles into the hands of readers.
Similar to much of the messaging and language in my personal Halloween social media videos, this November's Limited Edition series was carefully selected from my experience as an elementary school aged teacher and my most meaningful reading memories with Owen this time of year. You won't find a 'first Thanksgiving' rendition in these book bundles, and you will not be traveling back to the 1600s. Rather, these Thanksgiving book bundles are RICH picture books that weave incredible storytelling; some touch on 'recent' history, some are narrative fiction and some are silly stories. Best of all? Each one pulls the reader into the pages, without hesitation!
Here at The Book Shelf, one of my favorite reading accessories are the variety of reading scavenger hunts I have made (for middle grade to adult, Halloween-themed and for Date Night With a Twist!)
For the first time this month, you will see my brand new offering: Young Readers Scavenger Hunt!
These will accompany all of the Limited Edition: Thanksgiving book bundles; however, the language on these scavenger hunts was chosen to be certain this reading activity can be used with ANY theme of young readers stories. When creating this, it made me quite happy to reflect on much of the literacy work that was such a constant in the majority of my lessons when teaching. It is wonderful to tap into the moments that marry our love, strengths and experiences.
Lastly, November will find The Book Shelf setting up at Crystal Ridge's Holiday Market on 11/15 from 5-8 PM. What might one hope to find here?
-- Website book bundles AND market-only configurations
-- The above teased Limited Edition: Thanksgiving themed bundles
-- Holiday book bundles in ALL sizes, containing NEW titles and eye-catching reading accessories
-- The Book Shelf merchandise, paired with holiday reading pieces
Thank you, readers, for a FANTASTIC October! And onto the next we go . . .
