Welcome to The Book Shelf
Books are a great unifier.

Whether it was beginning my career with the Pre-K age or, most recently, developing and teaching my own upper elementary literature and writing courses, the great pull and comfort of a book was always my jumping off point in whatever classroom I was in.

Leaning into books slid over easily to my personal life when my son was born, as finding and swapping out book shelf picks was a mission of love and connection.

Over the past decade, we have been on epic reading experiences.

 

There have been books that were key players in my son’s independent reading skills; stories that our eyes and ears couldn’t take in fast enough.

Books that have made us belly laugh; stories whose endings made us cry.

Books that have been dusted off for re-reading many times over; stories that have tiptoed into heavy topics with such grace, that new conversations have been born.

 

Sharing a book with him has been my greatest joy. Now, I get to share book experiences with you.
